Environmental metrics
Variation in footprints: carbon footprint, greenhouse gas footprint, ecological footprint, comprehensive environmental footprint, among others. An environmental footprint is defined here as a comprehensive set of independent measures within seven comprehensive policy areas which can be tracked, benchmarked, and drive corporate environmental behaviors to ultimately improve a company’s actual environmental footprint. Based on extensive benchmark research, a draft set of metrics which could constitute an environmental footprint has been developed and will be discussed and refined at the forum. Participants will reach a facilitated decision as to the most appropriate set of metrics covering all aspects of the environment which could constitute an environmental footprint for a utility company.
